Let’s get the natural look; a very natural style for a winter holiday evening with family. The motto is: be glamourous but do not overdo it! Enhance your eyes with a natural smokey effect in warm earth tones. Start with beige all over the eyelid, then work the curve of lid with caramel brown. Don’t forget the lower lash line! Then, with a dark brown eye kohl, line the upper and lower lash lines. Warning: do not connect the lines! Over it, apply some dark brown eye shadow and blend well. Don’t forget to also blend the dark brown to the crease half-way, trace a black eyeliner to the upper lash line as you like (All, half, or nothing).

Christmas Makeup

Apply black mascara and fill your eyebrows with a color that matches your hair’s. Then, use a raisin colored blusher: it will contour your face and bring light to its center.

The Do’s and Don’ts For A Wedding Day

Do not apply too much foundation on your wedding night, as it will not sit well on the skin’s surface when exposed to the heat caused by dancing and excitement.
To ensure makeup longevity, be sure to have a friend readily available to give you tissue or face paper to blot away any excess of facial oil or sweat throughout the night.
Choose the colors of your makeup that suits you and compliments your skin tone and eye color. Do not make these decisions based on the shade of your dress.

In general, the simpler and smaller the wedding, the more natural the makeup should be. The same can be said for a day wedding where the bright daylight will reveal heavy makeup.
If you and those around you are used to seeing you in the same makeup day in and day out, try something a little different. It doesn’t have to be drastic, but subtle changes can make a lot of difference.
Do not overboard or get carried away with too many changes and experiments. At the end of the day, you still want to look like you!
Stop using any medication or skin treatment before the wedding.
Make sure your skin is well moisturized before the wedding.

Looks of the Decades: 1990’s

Makeup and science merge during this decade. No longer satisfied with just covering up the signs of aging, cosmetic houses begin presenting a more scientific approach to beauty. They started promising a more youthful appearance with ‘light reflective particles’ and ‘wrinkle-defying results’. The choices in makeup products increase, as does the continual search for hope in a jar. The look of the 90’s is still heavily influenced by the previous decades: the 50’s and 60’s for young women and 40’s, like the smoky look, for mature ones. Although colors and application are toned down, veering more towards a natural look, yet, the look still groomed. Nude lipsticks or dark red were used.

In the following photo, I used a natural brown eye shadow on the model, with individual false eyelashes. I applied a shining blusher on the cheekbones and a very natural lipstick color.

Blusher

Blusher enhances and compliments ones natural skin tone. It gives different types of looks if applied correctly.

1. A Natural Look

Apply peach, coral and pink shades of blusher to the apple of the cheeks to create a flushed and healthy glow. Of course go for the color that best suites your skin color.

2. Dramatic Look

To create and enhance cheekbones, apply blusher just under the cheekbones using a natural skin-tone color only. If suitable, go a shade or two darker to really sculpt and define, keeping in mind that the darker you go the more important it is to blend the lines together. Hence, you will create a shadow under the cheeks.

One trick you can do is to apply and blend upwards toward the hairline, this will elongate the face. If you blend downwards towards the jaw line, this will make the face appear thinner. Ultimately, the shape of your face will determine what looks best in terms of application.

3. Playful Look

Play with the color of blusher and its application as much as you like to create a truly personal look, looking like your favorite star. However, it is important not to go overboard with colors and quantity.
