Val Garland MAC cosmetics MasterClass In London

London is the place where all artists meet and inspire one another. In a special Master makeup event presented by Val Garland, a group of makeup artists who are united in their passion for makeup made a huge impact on exchanging ideas and opinions in the art of makeup. Val Garland is well known for the creative sculpture art in each photo she presents. The photo itself is a piece of art.

The room was amazing and very inspiring. I met many makeup artists from all over the world, 2 from Milano, 2 from Sweden, 1 from Denmark and many more.

However, we were like 20 people, we left the hotel to the cocktail reception; it was freezing when we arrived and there was like 100 makeup artists waiting in line to get inside. We mingled at the reception with various nationalities and different background until it was a time to take a seat and let the show begin.

The DO’s and DON’TS for Bridal Makeup

“DO’s and DON’TS”

  • Do not apply too much foundation on your wedding night, as it will not sit well on the skin’s surface when exposed to the heat caused by dancing and excitement. Imagine you are wearing makeup for what will be a long hot summer night.
  • To ensure makeup longevity, be sure to have a friend readily available to give you tissue or face paper to blot away any excess of facial oil or sweat throughout the night.
  • Choose the colors of your makeup that suits you and compliments your skin tone and eye color. Do not make these decisions based on the shade of your dress.
  • In general, the simpler and smaller the wedding, the more natural the makeup should be. The same can be said for a day wedding where the bright daylight will reveal heavy makeup.
  • If you and those around you are used to seeing you in the same makeup day in and day out, try something a little different. It doesn’t have to be drastic, but subtle changes can make a lot of difference.
  • Do not go overboard or get carried away with too many changes and experiments. At the end of the day, you still want to look like you!
  • Stop using any medication or skin treatment before the wedding.
  • Make sure your skin is well moisturized before the wedding.

An Important Note to Remember:

Makeup should not only be beautiful on, but also camera ready. One of the most valuable skills a makeup artist can provide on your wedding day is to be sure that your makeup is not only beautifully applied, but should look even better in photographs. By drawing attention to your best features, through subtle shading and highlighting, and creating a ‘glow’ through applied shimmers and iridescent creams, your face and makeup come alive under the bright burst of light from the camera flash. I personally prefer the natural look for a bride, especially expressed beautifully in your wedding pictures; but in reality, one must accentuate lash lines to bring out the glam in your eyes.
